Differences

AS IT SEEMS odd TO ME, in Buenos Aires... differences good and bad

-Staring is not considered rude
-Runners run in parks or the gym (not the city neighborhood like me)
-When a party starts at 9 in theory, that means 11 in practice
-When late to class, it is better to announce yourself and greet the professor and classmates rather than to sneak in quietly
-It is a strange day when men do not throw piropos your way (ie. precious, cute, beautiful, pretty, etc etc)
-Dogs walk people
-So do kids
-Littering is okay because they pay people to pick it up ..
-Sickness is taken seriously. It is believed and excused, not questioned.
-Complaining about public transportation is futile

Buenos Aires does it better with

1. traffic lights (turn from green to yellow to red to yellow to green... so you know when to slow down to stop as well as when to start up)
2. greetings (are one kiss on the cheek and a look in the eye...feels warm and accepting)
3. timing (is relaxed... you arrive when you arrive and it's okay. just be present when you're actually there.)
4. directness (is valued and respected... if you don't like a food, it's okay to say so and to not eat it)
5. offensiveness and defensiveness (rarely exist... only for good reasons do they emerge)
6. goodbyes (are not something you say, but rather an event... quality time spent while you still can)
7. patience (with people, with buses, with things that matter much or not at all)
